Welcome to Royal Lytham & St. Annes Golf Club

“Walk the Path of Legends”

We are pleased to share this historic course with you and to make your experience as enjoyable as possible we would like to bring a few things to your attention.

 On arrival

Please visit either the Professional Shop, which is located next to the first tee, or enter the historic Clubhouse where we invite you to enjoy our famous Northern hospitality.  Our extensive Catering menu is available daily between 10am and 6.30pm (5.00pm in winter).  For larger groups of 12 or more we encourage pre-bookings to be made with our Catering team – email: catering@royallytham.org

Royal Lytham is often regarded as one of the toughest tests of golf in the world.  It has just 174 bunkers peppering the fairways and surrounding the greens.  It is not a conventionally beautiful golf course but has a charm all of its own.  A Links Course which is a long way from the sea yet close enough for the sea breeze to have an effect on one’s game.  Bernard Darwin, the leading golf writer of the thirties, described it as ‘a beast of a course, but a just beast’.

We encourage all visiting parties, irrespective of ability, to play from the Green Tee Markers (for Men) and Orange Tee Markers (for Ladies). To get full enjoyment out of your visit to Royal Lytham, we advise that handicaps are no higher than 21 for Men, and 30 for Ladies.

We understand that every golfer does not play to the same standard or at the same speed so all we ask is that you do not hold up players behind, please allow groups behind to play through if you start to see them wait.  For everyone’s enjoyment please replace divots, repair pitch marks and rake bunkers (we all know that one bad lie can ruin a golfer’s day!)

You are welcome to make use of all our practice facilities, range ball tokens are available at the Pro Shop.  Caddies, Club Hire and Trolleys are all available by prior arrangement.  We have two buggies available for guests with a medical condition preventing them from walking the course (medical certification is required), these are driven by one of our Caddies for Health & Safety reasons.
