A stylish and sophisticated £15 million pound refurbishment in 2008 has resulted in the completion of a new four-star 62 bedroom Hotel and Luxury Spa. Formby Hall is a challenging championship golf course and a well-established venue on the European Challenge Tour. The 72-par Old Course boasts an excellent pedigree and the new PGA 9-hole par three course is among the best in the country.

The golf course is perfect for corporate golf days, weekend golf breaks and golf society days. In 2008, Formby Hall became the UK’s first PGA National Residential Golf Academy.

Course Details

The Old Course                            

The existing 18 hole The Old Course has been spectacularly transformed from marshland to a picturesque parkland course, six miles south of Southport the course measures 6,955 yards from the Championship tees and has already hosted two events on the Challenge Tour and another on the European Seniors’ Tour. The club is also known for hosting high quality charity and pro-am events featuring some well-known celebrities.The Old Course features a series of testing holes protected by water and well placed bunkers. Water can be found on 16 of the 18 holes, making the course an altogether different experience.  

Par 3 Course
This unique 9-hole inland links course captures the true challenges of links golf with its numerous strategically placed riveted pot bunkers, and large undulating greens. Added to this the presence of 3 large lakes provides the sternest of tests for golfers of all levels.

The UK’s first PGA National Residential Academy opened in 2008 at Formby Hall Golf Resort. The PGA Academy is fully equipped with state-of-the-art technology including radar ball-tracking and video swing-analysis, aimed at developing both beginners through to established club players.

Formby Hall caters for players of all ages and abilities from absolute beginners to experienced competitors. Guests can choose from a range of packages that suit their time and budget from half-day coaching sessions to residential golf packages.

At the 19th Hole eating & drinking is about relaxing and enjoying yourself.

With fabulous views overlooking the golf course it is the perfect relaxed Bar / Restaurant to chill out and unwind. In summer, tables spill out onto a spacious al fresco terrace.The menu includes light, healthy, hearty and seasonal dishes, showcasing the finest local ingredients.

Formby Hall 19th Hole Restaurant & Bar is perfect whether you are dropping in for a small bite from the menu a quick business lunch, or a comfortable and indulgent evening of quality cuisine and wines.The atmosphere is never overly formal, though we of course maintain the high level of professional, efficient and friendly attention.
